Carpenters' Project
The Building Bridges Project of the Chicago Interfaith Committee on Worker Issues will offer three 11-week classes starting January 2008. This class will put you on the path to entering into the carpenter's apprenticeship program, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters union.
This class will be: all day, 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, for 11 weeks. The content will be academic, carpentry hands on, math, safety and construction skills. It will include job readiness training, and conflict resolution training. It will be taught by a experienced Journeyman from the carpenter's union and from the Building Bridges Project. It will take place at the carpenter's training facility near 22nd and Halsted streets in Chicago.
Drug testing will be required several times during the application period and the class. No one who tests positive at any time will be allowed in the class. Students must be residents of Cook County.
These classes are funded by a grant from the State of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and are offered through a partnership between the Bulding Bridges Project of the Chicago Interfaith Committee on Worker Issues, the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters and the University of Illinois.
